If you can, I recommend taking the artwork straight to your framer and letting them carefully unroll it for you. I know it's tempting to open it immediately, but leaving it to the professionals helps keep your print in perfect condition.

Canvas artworks are shipped rolled in a protective tube to keep them safe during transit. Each canvas includes an additional 5cm mirrored border, allowing your framer enough material for professional stretching and framing.

Once stretched, the finished artwork size will match the dimensions listed on the website, with the mirrored border wrapping neatly around the sides of the frame.

Stretching is the process of pulling the canvas tightly over a timber subframe so the artwork sits smooth and taut, ready to hang or be framed. This removes any ripples from shipping and gives the canvas its finished shape.

Framing is an additional step where the stretched canvas is fitted into a tray frame (sometimes called a floating frame). This creates a clean, gallery-style finish with a beautiful border surrounding the artwork. Please refer to my Print and Framing section for a visual guide here.
