Isabella explores the ideas of expectations placed on women—the idea that we should always be ready to smile on command or laugh at things that aren’t funny. I wanted this series to explore beauty & adornment without obligation or expectation. Her expression is her own, she’s unburdened by the demand to please. She exists, not to perform, but to just be. Her femininity is defined by her inner strength.
